Adapted by Timothy Mason. From Mark Twain.
Directed by Warren Wilgus.
Twain, who called Tom Sawyer a “hymn” to boyhood, would be thrilled with this adaptation which provides an especially good look at traditional U.S. values—and Tom’s attempts to circumvent them. All chief adventures of Tom and his friends are brought to the stage—the famous white-washing, the school-room episodes, the graveyard experience, the pirate adventure on Jackson’s Island, the return to their own funeral at the village church, the trial of Muff Potter, and the finding and losing of treasure.
This was an amazing performance. My children were spellbound with the actors and the creative staging. Thank you for a wonderful introduction to the works of Mark Twain and to Ken Erhart. He truly drew us into the personality and wicked humor of Mark Twain. Bravo!
