ALT is proud to announce auditions for CABARET, the first show in our 82nd Mainstage Season!
CABARET
Directed by Henry Avery, music direction by William W. Williams and choreography by Larry Aguilar.
*VOCAL AUDITIONS: Sunday, August 21, 2-6 pm, by appointment only. Please call the ALT Box Office at (505) 242-4750 X2 to schedule your time slot. Prepare approximately 30 bars (measures) of a Broadway-style song that shows your range and personality. Please bring your sheet music; an accompanist will be provided. If you prefer, you may bring a CD and player.
*DANCE (Movement) AUDITIONS: Sunday, August 21, 12:00 noon. No preparation required, but please dress appropriately, and please BE ON TIME.
*Everyone must attend both vocal and dance (movement) auditions.
The version of CABARET being produced is the 1998 “Alan Cummings” version. The cast will consist of 19 persons, including 4 male and 3 female principals, as well as 6 male and 6 female ensemble members. Additionally, we will be looking for a boy soprano whose voice will be recorded but who will not actually appear in the show. ALL ROLES ARE OPEN AND AVAILABLE FOR THE TAKING. No roles have been pre-cast.
Characters are as follows:
Kit Kat Klub Emcee: sexual and seductive; must sing and dance well
Sally Bowles: young English headliner at the Kit Kat Klub; must sing and dance well
Clifford Bradshaw: young American writer traveling in Berlin; singing role
Fraulein Schneider: older woman who runs a boarding house; singing role
Herr Schultz: older Jewish man who owns a fruit shop; singing role
Ernst Ludwig: a German who befriends Cliff
Fraulein Kost: prostitute who rents a room from Fraulein Schneider; singing role
Kit Kat girls (6): performers at the Kit Kat Klub; must sing and dance well
Male Ensemble (6): play a number of various roles; some singing and dancing required
Rehearsals will begin on Sunday, August 28. Performances will be October 14-November 6: Fridays and Saturdays at 8 PM, Sundays at 2 PM, with an additional performance on Thursday, October 27 at 8. All cast members must be able to attend all 13 performances.
