Back by popular demand, ALT will close our 86th season with the fabulous musical Hairspray!! Its 1962 in Baltimore, and the lovable, plus-sized teen Tracy Turnblad has only one desire – to dance on the popular Corny Collins Show. When her dreams come true, Tracy is transformed from social outcast to sudden star. She must use her newfound power to dethrone the reigning Teen Queen, win the affections of heartthrob Link Larkin, and integrate a TV network, all without denting her ‘do! Winner of 8 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Hairspray is a family-friendly musical piled bouffant-high with laughter, romance, and deliriously tuneful songs.

Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett’s play is based on the true story of a young Jewish girl who kept a diary of her time hiding from the Nazis in an attic of her father’s office during World War II. The Diary of Anne Frank was the winner of the 1956 Pulitzer Prize, Tony Award, Critics Circle Award and virtually every other coveted prize of the theatre. Very few plays have moved the Broadway critics to write such glowing notices, receiving unanimous acclaim from all the top New York reviewers.

WEST SIDE STORY opens March 4th, 2016 and runs through March 27th. Performances will be at Albuquerque Little Theatre, 224 San Pasquale SW. Curtain times are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2:00pm. There will also be a performance, Thursday March 17th at 7:30pm.

Lucy Seward, whose father is the doctor in charge of an English sanitorium, has been attacked by some mysterious illness. Dr. Van Helsing, a specialist, believes that the girl is the victim of a vampire, a sort of ghost that goes about at night sucking blood from its victims. The vampire is at last found to be a certain Count Dracula, a being as sensual and seductive as he is deadly.
