Footloose Auditions

FOOTLOOSE THE MUSICAL AUDITION CALL
Strong need for experienced singer/actors, but also opportunities for beginners who wish to gain experience in acting/singing/dancing.

Albuquerque Little Theatre will be holding auditions for the musical production, FOOTLOOSE on the weekend of July 28th, 29thand 30th.

Saturday, 7/28,  individual vocal auditions scheduled from 10AM-2PM; Group choreography auditions will be from 3PM-5PM.
Sunday, 7/29,  individual vocal auditions scheduled from 10AM-2PM; Group choreography auditions will be from 6PM-8PM.

PLEASE SPECIFY IF YOU NEED A SPECIFIC VOCAL AUDITION TIME IN YOUR REGISTRATION EMAIL

Auditionee’s must attend the choreography audition on the same day of their vocal audition.

Auditions will be held in the 2nd story rehearsal room at ALT, 224 San Pasquale SW, Albuquerque, NM 87104.

Please email auditions@abqliltheatre.org with your name, age, and contact information (phone number and email address) and vocal range (If auditioning for a musical). Please be prepared to bring a copy of your acting resume (or list of performance experience), and a headshot (or recent photo). After receiving your email, you will be given a time slot for your audition.

For your audition please prepare a 1-minute (32 bars) audition song.  Bring sheet music in your preferred key.  Please have the sheet music in a three-ring binder with Beginning and Ending points marked clearly.  No a cappella.  An accompanist will be provided. Also dress accordingly (or bring a change of clothes/shoes) for choreography auditions.

ALT will be holding auditions for the following roles for FOOTLOOSE:
Character Descriptions
All roles are open and available, with opportunities for multi-ethnic casting.

Ren McCormack– A teenage boy from Chicago (tenor).  Fun loving and seems to attract trouble.  Strong singer/dancer. 

Ariel Moore– the Moore’s feisty teenage daughter and Ren’s love interest (alto/mezzo).  Strong singer/dancer.

Shaw Moore– The minister of Beaumont (baritone).   Age 40-55. Spiritual leader and civic influence with a strained relationship with his daughter, Ariel.

Vi Moore– Shaw’s wife (mezzo). Age 40-50.  Supportive of her husband, but has her own opinions. Loving person.

Willard Hewitt– Ren’s teenage friend, a country boy (baritone).  Loyal and ready to defend anyone’s honor. Strong singer/dancer.

Rusty– Ariel’s teenage best friend and Willard’s love interest (soprano).  Fun loving girl that is trying to get Willard’s attention. Strong belt/dancer.

Urleen– Ariel’s friend (mezzo). Tries to give advice.  Strong singer/dancer.

Wendy Jo– Ariel’s Friend (mezzo). Tries to give advice.  Strong singer/dancer.

Ethel McCormack– Ren’s mother (mezzo). Age 40-50.  Has to be strong for her son.  Her emotions show through occasionally.

Chuck Cranston– Ariel’s boyfriend (tenor/baritone).  Age 18-25. Rough, demanding and jealous.

Lulu Warnicker– Ren’s aunt (Alto). Age 40-50.  Outspoken and believes the gossip about Ren.

Wes Warnicker– Lulu’s husband/Ren’s uncle.  Age 40-55. Loyal to Reverend Moore.  True to his family.

Betty Blast– Owner of the Burger Blast.  Age 45+. Supports Ren, wears roller-skates.

Travis– Chuck’s buddy (Baritone).  Age 18-25. Does whatever Chuck says.

Lyle– Chuck’s buddy (Tenor). Age 18-25.  Does whatever Chuck says.

Principal Harry Clark– Principal of Beaumont High School.  Age 40+. Reverend Moore enthusiast.

Coach Roger Dunbar– The high school physical education teacher.  Age 35+. Reverend Moore enthusiast.

Eleanor Dunbar– Coach’s wife. Age 30+. 

Irene– Lead singer for her country band, the Country Kickers (mezzo).

Cowboy Bob– A cowboy in a country western dance hall.

Jeter, Bickle and Garvin– Ren’s teenage friends that support him in his quest for dance.

Choir, Parishioners, Townspeople, High School Students, Cops, Cowboys, and Country Western Couples.  Many roles for teenagers and adults!  Some cast members will play several roles.

All roles listed as teenagers should look like they are in high school.  Actual age ranges may vary depending on look.  All young people will be dancing in the show, some more than others. Please do not let this deter you from auditioning, as ALL levels are needed for the show.  All those auditioning should come to dance auditions, as everyone will dance/move in the finale.

Footloose includes ALL of the loved and famous songs from the movie such as Footloose, Almost Paradise, The Girl Gets Around, Somebody’s Eyes, Holding out for a Hero, I’m Free/Heaven Help Me & Let’s Hear It for the Boy.

Tentative first read-through will be on Sunday, AUGUST 12THAT 6:30PM

FOOTLOOSE will perform from OCTOBER 5-28, 2018.
Curtain is at 7:30 PM on Fridays and Saturdays, and 2:00 PM on Sundays. There will also be a 2PM matinee on Saturday, October 13 and a 7:30PM performance on Thursday, October 18. 

Rehearsals are typically Sunday through Thursday evenings 6:30 PM-9:30 PM (Some Saturdays may be included.)
